Brake Repair Hollywood, FL

Getting regular brake service for your car is one of the best things you can do to ensure safety for you and your passengers. You should visit your Kia dealer for this service on a regular schedule, but you may need to stop by between scheduled visits if your car has any problems.

When It Comes Up on Your Service Schedule

You’ll need to get your brakes checked out on a mileage-based schedule. Your owner’s manual may specify how frequently you should visit the dealer to get the brakes checked out, but if it doesn’t, then it’s wise to have the brakes looked at each time you get an oil change.

How frequently you’ll need an oil change depends on a lot of factors, including the model of your car. However, most modern vehicles need oil changes after driving 5,000 to 7,500 miles.

When It’s Time to Replace the Brake Pads

Your dealer will let you know if you need your brake pads changed during your visit, but you should also keep an eye and ear out for the signs that they need to be replaced before your next scheduled visit to the dealer. Squealing and grinding noises are the main signs you’ll notice when the brake pads need to be replaced. You should also visually inspect the brake pads regularly. Visit the dealer if it looks like the pads are less than 1/4 of an inch thick.

Feeling a vibration while braking, or taking longer to stop when you apply the brakes, can also indicate warm-down brake pads. However, they can also be signs of other problems.

When You Feel Feedback on Your Brake Pedal

As we just said, feeling a vibration when braking can let you know it’s time to change the brake pads, but it can also be a sign that the rotors are warped or that your car is no longer in alignment. The feedback you’ll feel when using the brake pedal may also feel more like pulsating than vibrating.

When Your Car Starts Pulling

Sometimes your car will pull to one side when braking if the brake linings are wearing down unevenly. If your brake fluid has foreign matter in it, then your car might also pull to one side when you apply the brakes.

When Your Brakes Become Less Responsive

While under-responsive brakes can be a sign that your brake pedal is worn down, they can also indicate other issues, such as leaks. You could have brake fluid leaking out of your vehicle, or there may be air leaking out of one of the hoses in your braking system.

Come over to Hollywood Kia in Hollywood, FL to get service on your brakes as needed. Our service hours are 7:30 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays.
